Training Ride/Attempted Run – May 22, 2020

Melinda's Training:

Today I tried to run but it ended very quickly. The left glute/hamstring pain is still very much present. I think that it must be a muscle pull or something like that. It was hurting from the moment I started to run and by a 1/4 mile into the run it was yelling at me. I finally gave in and turned around at 1/2 mile and returned home in utter frustration.

I have decided that I will have to rest it and not run for probably at least 2 weeks. I will watch it closely to see how it heals.

This is very frustrating to me as I have put so much time and energy into training for this trip and now I'm injured and unable to train how I want to be training. It's also very frustrating because Doug is continuing to run 10 miles a day while I sit on the sidelines feeling like I am losing everything I worked so hard to gain in my fitness.

Luckily it at least doesn't hurt to ride my bike so my plan is to ride my bike as much as I can and continue my strength training exercises that don't hurt to do.

I will also continue to stretch and massage in hopes that it will be helpful as well. I potentially may have access to use a deep tissue laser and am hopeful that it will help speed up the healing process.
