Training Run – May 6, 2020

Today I was not motivated at all to get out and run the trail in fact I was dreading it. All afternoon as I worked I was wishing I didn't have a training run today. I was feeling really tired due to the hard training on a daily basis and the late nights up trying to get everything done on my to do list.

When we finally started out the door for our run I started out walking and finally started to run. I wasn't excited at all about going for a run. As I was running I experienced something I don't know that I've experienced before. I felt the pain and tiredness in my legs and calves as we climbed up and over Riggs Hill. It was strange. I just kept pushing forward, up and over. It was almost as if time stood still and I was able to keep going.

Later in the run I suddenly noticed that I had hit my stride and was running in my zone. It was amazing and fast. The trail is rocky and as I flew over the trail feeling like I was flying my feet knew just where to land with each step. I was able to very quickly step in the correct spot missing the bigger rocks and keep moving at a rapid pace.

The run tonight had its highs and lows. Everything from dread to tiredness to being energized.

This was my best run so far this week.
